Employment and Immigration Law
print this page email this page

Our firm’s Employment Law Department addresses employment and labour disputes and offers a full range of legal services related to employment law issues, including hiring of employees, termination of employment, mergers and transfers, provident and pension funds, employee share option schemes, maternity leave, sickness and misconduct procedures.

We regularly deal with negotiating, drafting and concluding contracts of employment, and advise on various issues arising from the Cyprus Termination of Employment Law.  We are involved in litigation and represent parties before the Industrial Disputes Tribunal and the District Courts of Cyprus, whether such parties are employers or dismissed employees (including high profile individuals).  “Constructive dismissal” cases and  complex court cases related to discrimination and class actions are also frequently handled by the Department.

The firm’s employment law team acts for a wide range of clients in numerous sectors, including local employers, as well as companies of foreign interests which maintain fully fledged offices in Cyprus, as well as Cypriot and non-Cypriot employees. Our firm also provides assistance when non-EU citizens are to be employed in executive positions with companies belonging to foreign interests, guiding them through the special procedures leading to the grant of the relevant work and residency permits, as well as family reunion permits for their dependants. We also assist EU employees in registering and obtaining their permits, albeit under a more simplified procedure.

Our involvement in immigration law and procedures extends to applications for permanent residency, either for pensioners or for non-EU nationals that have obtained a work and residency permit with companies belonging to foreign interests.  We also assist clients who are entitled to apply for long-term residency permits.

Furthermore, we have extensive experience in applying for Cyprus citizenship for those who are eligible, including applications made under the special financial criteria of the Council of Ministers that waive the minimum staying time in Cyprus.
