Elena joined the Firm as a Senior Associate in November 2007. Previously, she trained and practised as a Solicitor in London at Schillings and Finers Stephens Innocent LLP, working on many high profile media cases, and also undertook a secondment to Tiger Aspect Productions. She co-authored “Format Rights and UK Law – the Emperor’s New Clothes”, published in the International Bar Association Media Law Newsletter, in September 2007.
She regularly deals with large cross border transactions, acquisitions, extensive due diligence exercises and complex joint ventures. She acts for Aer Rianta International (Middle East) WLL (a subsidiary of Dublin Airport Authority) and has advised in relation to its acquisition of Ermes Department Stores plc’s beneficial interest in both the concessionaire of the retail operations (CTC-ARI Airports Limited) and the concessionaire of the food and beverage operations (Cyprus Airports (F&B) Limited) at Larnaca and Paphos International Airports. She also acted for Frutarom (one of the world’s largest flavours and fine ingredients companies) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in a joint subscription for EUR 60 million of equity in the Cyprus company holding the Russian Maykor group. Other clients include Weatherford International Inc, Armenian Copper Programme closed joint stock company, Ringier Axel Springer Media AG, Ultra Electronics Group, Schering Plough/Merck, SAB Miller, Van Oord Group, Leroy Merlin and Foodpanda GmbH.
Elena also has extensive experience in relation to multifaceted, high value financing transactions and often drafts complex security documents. She has acted for many banking institutions, including Lloyds, Barclays, EBRD, BNP Paribas and Societe Generale on numerous matters including in relation to a Euro 1.6 billion facility to OJSC Novolipetsk Steel.
She also advises on energy law matters and has completed a distance learning course by the IBC Academy on the Fundamentals of Oil and Gas Contracts.
Elena has substantial expertise in data protection law matters, and frequently advises both local and international clients, including well-known global energy, insurance, pharmaceutical and banking groups. As well as drafting a wide range of commercial, intellectual property and media contracts, she also advises her clients in relation to their e-commerce obligations, terms and conditions, and privacy policies.
