Members of the firm have a broad and varied experience in shipping and maritime law matters, having represented numerous clients in maritime disputes, including vessel arrests, cargo carriage disputes, construction and re-building disputes, commercial/contractual claims (including charter parties), collisions, salvage and insurance claims.
Additionally, we are regularly involved in procedural matters before the Cyprus maritime authorities, including searches in vessels’ files, applications for the registration for vessels in both the Ship Registry and the Registry of Small Vessels, bareboat registration in parallel to foreign registries (“parallel out”), as well as inward registration to the Cyprus flag, registration of mortgages against vessels as well as against their owning companies’ assets and their discharge, renewal of ships documents, issue of dispensations, transfer of ownership of Cyprus flag vessels and deletion from the Registry.
Through our corporate and commercial, and tax law departments, we undertake all company and tax law related matters, including the formation and maintenance of shipping companies, the review, preparation and negotiation of a variety of commercial shipping contracts, ranging from the preparation of a purchase-related memorandum of agreement to more complex transactions involving the sale and lease-back of vessels or acquisitions.
We often advise banks in syndicated vessel financing transactions and have been involved in the negotiation, drafting and completion of ship financing and security transactions.
Our broad client base in this field of practice includes owners, ship managers, banks and other financial institutions, charterers and insurers. |
